We started with one loft in 2014 and grew to four lofts in a former stove factory on the Detroit River. This was before “Short Term Rentals” became a flash point in local politics and just a year after Detroit declared bankruptcy. Suffice to say, Detroit did not have many Airbnbs. In fact, we hosted the Airbnb staff when they would come to town. Over the course of eight years, we hosted thousands of guests and got familiar with the economics of property management. Financially speaking, this endeavor produced quadruple digit returns.
